September 23, at 22:00 Kyiv time, or 15:00 New York time, the 7th plenary meeting of the UN General Assembly began, which is also attended by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The schedule of plenary sessions was published on the UN website.
It should be noted that the 75th-anniversary session of the United Nations General Assembly is now being held, timed to coincide with the 75th anniversary of the UN.
September 21, within the framework of the session, a week of high-level meetings started, during which leaders of states speak to the delegates. The speeches are held virtually: neither the head of the Ukrainian state nor the leaders of other countries would come to the session this year, the recordings of their speeches will be demonstrated to the world community.
On the same day, President Zelensky made a speech at the General Assembly about the military conflict in eastern Ukraine.
Zelensky said that over the past year Ukraine has proved its desire to establish peace in Donbas and hopes for further unity and support of the international community on the path of a peaceful settlement of this conflict.
"The next steps on this path should be: the withdrawal of illegal armed formations and weapons from the occupied territories, the return of control over the state border and, in the end, the restoration of the territorial integrity of Ukraine within the internationally recognized borders," the president said.
Volodymyr Zelensky noted that over the past year, Ukraine has proven its desire for peace.
