A minor died of measles in Kyiv region, the press service of Ukraine’s Health Ministry reported on their Facebook page.
“A child at the age of 1 year 10 months dies of measles in Kyiv region. Totally, 13 people died of measles from the beginning of the year – nine children and four adults,” reads the message.
The Health Ministry adds that 882 people got measles over the past week (July 16 – 22) in Ukraine: - 369 adults and 413 children. The rate is 3.1% higher compared to that of the previous week.
It is also noted that 26692 people got measles since the beginning of 2018 – 10800 adults, 15892 children.
As it was reported, over 9, 000 Ukrainians were reported infected with measles as of April 2018.
Earlier the European Health Security Agency reported that Ukraine was the third in Europe on the number of people infected with measles in 2017. The leaders are Romania and Italy.
