The first case of the sickness of measles was spotted before the New Year and now, the number of the diseased increased up to more than a few dozens. The National Guard does not have a specialized medical unit so the soldiers are hospitalized to the city hospital. Four soldiers receive the treatment at Khmelnitsk District Hospital. The diagnosis measles is not confirmed yet; all of them have high fever and cough.
“We do not have the rashes,” soldier Bohdan Bidnyk said.
“We have the fever, cough. We receive the pills, injections; we are treated so,” soldier Mykhailo Holovan said.
The commander of the unit said that the soldier could get infected on duty or at the crowded places.
“My soldiers are serving at the regional administration, city council, convoy, security at halls, closed space, contact with the population,” Volodymyr Dzhula explained.
The soldiers were vaccinated hastily; more than 50 soldiers got the vaccination.
“54 men were vaccinated and 65 refused to do it. The majority, unfortunately, refused and we cannot force people to do it; there is an official refusal,” Head of Medical Service of the unit Vadym Kyrychenko said.
The military unit assures that the situation is under control; especially amid the outbreak of measles in the city. The officials confirm it.
“Yes, there is a large growth, 400 citizens of Vinnytsia sickened with measles during two weeks and the majority is children,” Natalia Avramenko, the Head of Health Department of City Council said.
