The measles outbreak was spotted at Karazin University in Kharkiv. 26 people, including 15 students living at the dormitory, sickened with measles, as MyKharkov.info reported, citing the university’s representative.
At the moment, there are 26 sickened people, including 15 residents of the dormitories #2, 5, 6, 10 and 11. The students were notified about the quarantine at the dormitories; no admittance is allowed.
The students who were hospitalized are tested and stay supervised by the doctors.
Measles has been spreading at the university since March. The professors and workers of the university alerted the students about the measures to prevent the illness and the spread of measles. Besides, it was offered to pass the diagnostics, which help to establish whether a person has the immunity.
It was reported that 30,794 people were infected with measles since the beginning of 2019 in Ukraine. The incidence rate grows in Kyiv, Khmelnytsk, Ternopil, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kharkiv regions and in Kyiv as well.
Earlier a two-year-old boy deceased because of the complications caused by measles. The deadly case was observed in Lviv, western Ukraine.
Moreover, a nine-year-old girl died from measles in Rivne region. It is the third case since the beginning of the year.
