Maruv became a participant of Eurovision 2019 from Ukraine. This became known after the joint voting of the jury and the TV audience on February, 23.
Maruv won the national selection for Eurovision 2019. She got 11 points out of 12.
Members of juries granted her the second place with 5 points, but she won after the vote of the viewers, as she scored 6.
Much of the show’s fire came from a political war of words. Controversially, multiple acts were interrogated about their relationship with Russia and their view towards Crimea. The lead singer of YUKO stated as a result that she would give up her Russian nationality as soon as she would receive a Ukrainian passport. But that was only the first in a series of mind-blowing moments.
After Maruv did not make herself clear enough when asked about Russia, Jamala decided to give the singer an example of a question she might face at a Eurovision press conference from a hard-nosed journalist.
She asked: “Crimea - is that Ukraine or…?” to which MARUV immediately replied: “Ukraine, of course.”.
Freedom Jazz, Yuko, Maruv, Brunettes Shoot Blondes, Kazka, Anna Maria entered the final of the national selection Eurovision 2019.
As you know, the winner of the national selection will represent Ukraine at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019, which will be held in Israeli capital Tel Aviv. Our contestant will sing in the second half of the first semifinal, scheduled for May 14. The second semifinal will be held on May 16, and we will know the name of the winner on May 18.
The first wave of ticket sales for Eurovision 2019 is expected by the end of February, but the organizers have already unveiled their price - and they are not cheap.
