August 24, on the Independence Day of Ukraine, the March of the country's defenders is being held in Kyiv, organized by the Veterans' Movement and the Come Back Alive Foundation. The broadcast was hosted by Ukrinform news agency.
So, at 11:00 a column of several hundred people moved from Shevchenko Park. The march went along Taras Shevchenko Boulevard to Bessarabska Square, and further along the central street of the capital - Khreshchatyk through Independence Square to European Square, where the action "They Don't Mess with Independence" will take place.
In total, veterans of Donbas war formed 48 columns. The mothers and family members of the dead servicemen, the relatives of those killed on the Maidan during the Revolution of Dignity, as well as the Ukrainian soldiers who were wounded in the battles in Donbas go ahead of the march.
The participants of the March carried blue and yellow and red and black flags, in addition, white and red Belarusian flags were also noticed. There are no party symbols on the march.
The column also included activists with the slogan #Free, who are trying to draw attention to Andriy Antonenko, Yulia Kuzmenko, and Yana Dugar, accused of the murder of journalist Pavlo Sheremet. Members of this column are dressed in T-shirts with portraits of the defendants in this case.
