Lviv citizens with solemn march marked the 75th anniversary of the creation of the SS division Galicia. As ZAXID.NET writes, the procession passed without political party symbols.
According to one of the organizers of the march, Svyatoslav Siryi, the march was attended by representatives of the Azov volunteer battalions, the OUN battalion, the Karpatska Sich battalion, the Aidar battalion, and a number of public organizations. He added that he considers this day one of the days of the Ukrainian volunteer and a day of remembrance of the Galician, Ukrainian military tradition.
ZIK notes that, as the organizers specified, originally the action was called "Spirit March" and was planned on the square near the monument to Taras Shevchenko, but the city authorities did not allow carrying out the event there.
We recall, the Galicia division was formed on April 28, 1943. It consisted mainly of Ukrainian volunteers who lived on the territory of the Galicia and the General Province.
The division was part of the SS troops of Nazi Germany, and in April 1945 it was formally incorporated into the Ukrainian National Army.
