Ukrainian law enforcers detained a man who tried to cross Stanytsia Luhanska checkpoint, carrying antiquities to the occupied Donbas territory. Press office of Ukraine's State Border Guard reported that on January 4.
"57-year-old Ukrainian reached the Stanytsia Luhanska checkpoint yesterday. He was on his way to the occupied Bryanka. During the control measures, Border Guards and State Fiscal Service workers revealed antiquities in the citizen's bag, which date back to the 19th and 20th centuries", reads the message.
Among the revealed goods were two icons, one of them dating back to 1800, and several books of late 19th and early 20th centuries, which pose historic or any other cultural value and are forbidden to be shipped across the division line in Donbas.
State Border Guards detained the culprit; he carried no documents that would confirm his right to perform such action. State Fiscal Service seized goods for further expertise.
