In Kyiv, a man has set himself on fire during a rally for the resignation of Interior Minister Arsen Avakov that is being hold next to the building of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. This was reported by Ukrinform.
According to the publication, the man's name is Yurii Liashenko, he is an entrepreneur from Nova Kakhovka. As a result of the self-immolation, skin on his shoulders and torso turned red, but he was not seriously injured. He is currently being treated by doctors.
He spoke out against Arsen Avakov because his family had previously been robbed by bandits and police. The man's son said that they had repeatedly appealed to law enforcement, the State Investigation Bureau and government officials. He added that law enforcement officers had opened criminal proceedings for the seizure of property during the terms of Vitaliy Kasko and Ruslan Ryaboshapka as Ukraine's Prosecutor General, but no further investigation had been made.
Ukrayinska Pravda reports that this is not the first time Liashenko has set himself on fire. The previous self-immolation took place in 2005.
As we reported earlier, on February 26, an act of self-immolation was conducted during the protest against consequences of the medical reform, which was held under the building of the Office of the President.
