Man caught on Ukrainian border while carrying over 150 parrots to Belarus

The 45-year-old resident of Zhytomyr region attempted to ship the cargo across the border in the night, bypassing the checkpoint

An incident occured on Ukraine-Belarus state border in Zhytomyr region, northern Ukraine. A man tried to bypass the checkpoint in the night time. When the border guards detained him, it appread that he carried a large box with more than 150 live parrots inside.

The press office of the State Border Guard of Ukraine reported this on April 5. 

It turned out that the culprit was the 45-year-old resident of Zhytomyr region. According to the authority, the law enforcers found out that the box had six smaller boxes inside; each of the boxes was packed with live birds.

The man carried no IDs and could not explain what he was doing at that time on the border.

The birds were seized and passed to the employees of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine.
