Maksym Shapoval, the officer of the Chief Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine’s Defense Ministry, killed in a car blast in Kyiv this morning, was the head of the guard service of the former Russian State Duma Denis Voronenkov, UNN reports citing the source in the Ministry of Defense.
At the same time the source is not connecting the murder of Shapoval with the murder of the Russian politician.
Note that Illia Kiva, the advisor of the Interior Minister, partially confirmed the information on air of 112 Ukraine TV channel.
“In this case, there is such piece of information, however I think that it is too early to disclose it. Definitively, intelligence ran the Voronenko’s defense and guard, and consequently, as the head of the special forces, he was also involved to the process. It couldn’t have been done without him,” Kiva said.
As it was reported earlier, the body fragments of the deceased are taken out of the warped car.
“It’s been 5 hours since rescuers, policemen, criminal experts started working on the scene, we can also see servicemen and some civilians. Relatives of the deceased were here couple minutes ago. The car is now wrapped with a black tape – the body fragments were just taken away from the car. Now, I believe, the car will be put on the evacuator. Solomenska street resumed its traffic, the traffic on Mekhanizatorov street is still closed,” noted the 112 Ukraine TV channel reporter.
As it was reported earlier an automobile detonated in Kyiv’s Solomensky district, killing one person. The other wounded is hospitalized.
