France introduces compulsory vaccination of medical personnel and a number of other healthcare institutions staff. President Emmanuel Macron announced it on July 12 in a video message.
"Mandatory vaccination for medical personnel, as well as non-medical personnel who work in hospitals, clinics, and nursing homes will be introduced without delay. Monitoring and administrative penalties will be applied to verify the implementation of this order from September 15," Macron said.
Macron explained the need for compulsory vaccination of medical personnel by a difficult sanitary and epidemiological situation, which is tending to deteriorate in France.
He also noted that the Delta strain can negate all efforts if mass vaccination is not carried out, so sooner or later the question of compulsory vaccination of the entire population will arise.
July 10, in France the proportion of the Delta coronavirus strain exceeded 50% among all infections.
At the same time, by December, France would have its own Covid vaccine. Sanofi France company has started the third phase of clinical trials.
