Groundhog Marusia in Lviv children's ecological and naturalistic center predicted an early spring, the UNN reports.
Experts of the center observed the behavior of groundhogs for a few days, which traditionally predict spring on the celebration of Presentation of Jesus at the Temple.
This year the groundhog Marusia predicted an early spring.
"Groundhog whistled yesterday. Today Marusia woke up very cheerfully. Today is a clear and frosty weather. Therefore, we can expect an early spring, possibly even in four weeks. Marusia already feels the spring," said the Director of ecological and naturalistic center Igor Antakhovych.
Previously, little animals were awakened on Groundhog Day to predict the weather. However, according to the Director of ecological and naturalistic center Igor Antakhovych, natural signs of spring forecast in the region are linked to the feast of the Presentation, that’s why Lviv groundhogs are awakened on February 15.
