Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Valeriya Lutkovska intends to appeal to the Ombudsman of the Russian Federation Tatyana Moskalkova to check the grounds for refusal in the transfer of Ukrainian prisoners Oleg Sentsov and Alexander Kolchenko to Ukraine. She stated this on the air of Espresso.TV, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

According to Lutkovska, after the Russian side refused to extradite Ukrainian prisoners she received disturbing information that Sentsov and Kolchenko began to face pressure. To verify this information, the Ukrainian Ombudsman intends to ask her counterpart to visit the place of serving their sentences.

"In addition, I will ask the Russian Ombudsman to intervene in this process, but to intervene in terms of the conditions of serving the sentence, and to check the grounds for refusing the transfer of these two citizens to serve their sentence in Ukraine", stressed Lutkovska.

As earlier reported, the Russian Federation refused to hand Sentsov and Kolchenko over to serve their sentences in their motherland.
