While Turkish citizens will be required to carry special passes for domestic trips during the lockdown, foreign tourists will not be needing these documents. Turkish Airlines air company mentioned that in the message on its website.
"Passengers travelling abroad from Turkey do not need to obtain a travel permit. Passengers who have international flights with domestic connections can go to the airport and board their flights if they submit their international ticket during the checks. There is no travel permit requirement for passengers arriving in Turkey from abroad. Passengers continuing to another city in Turkey with a connecting domestic flight are exempt from the restriction. If required or requested, they must present the ticket indicating an international flight", reads the announcement on the website.
Besides, the foreigners who arrived in Turkey for the short period of time as tourists will not be affected by the curfew during the lockdown. However, it will concern the rest of foreigners, including refugees and those seeking international protection.
The lockdown in Turkey was introduced on April 29; it is supposed to last unil May 17.
