Over 200 people who had previously crossed the Lithuanian-Belarusian border illegally have left Lithuania, Polskie Radio reports with a reference to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Lithuania.

Over the next week, about 80 more migrants staying in Lithuania intend to return to their countries of origin voluntarily. There are Iraqi consuls in Lithuania who are preparing documents for the return of their compatriots.

Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis has said that additional sanctions should be imposed on Alexander Lukashenko's regime if it prevents the return of migrants at the border. The country's foreign minister noted that "the European Union has such instruments, the language of which is understood by the regime in Minsk."

"I would suggest considering additional sanctions if people are unable to leave," he said.

According to Gabrielius Landsbergis, the Iraqi authorities are currently organizing a flight of 200 citizens of this country, who found themselves on the border with Poland.

As it was reported, due to the threat of large-scale flow of illegal migrants from Belarus, Lithuanian Interior Ministry offers to introduce the state of emergency.
