On September 15, the Ukrainian border guards spotted the arrival of significant groups of foreigners near Dolsk checkpoint in Volyn region as the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported.

Head of the Service Serhiy Deineko arrived at the site and checked the reserve force involved for the provision of the order and prevention of the violations at the state border.

“Besides the forces of the border guard service, the detachments of the National Police and the National Guard are involved; the clear coordination and interaction established with them. Moreover, the head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine met the foreigners,” the message said.

He also informed them about the decision of the government that acts in Ukraine and regulates the order of the crossing of the border and underlined that the Hasidim heading to Ukraine knew about the restrictions for entrance.

“You knew about such a decision three weeks ago. I understand your traditions and customs; I understand how important it is for you to stay in Uman; however, this year, it is impossible. The government of Ukraine made a decision about the restriction of the entrance for foreigners based on the situation in Ukraine. To prevent the spread of coronavirus in the territory of Ukraine, the entrance for foreigners is banned,” Deineko said.

He asked the foreigners not to spread rumors about the adopted decision about the allowed entrance. Moreover, he stated about the inadmissibility of the attempts to violate the border.

“A citizen of Israel, who was waiting for the admission in Chernihiv region, tried to cross the border illegally. He was immediately detained and returned with the ban for entrance to Ukraine for five years. That is why I urge you not to violate the laws of Ukraine and do not  resort to illegal actions,” he noted.

The border guard service noted that in Chernihiv region, as of the morning September 16, about 1,000 foreigners stay near Novi Yarylovychy checkpoint and try to enter Ukraine.

“The situation at the border remains to be controlled. The units of the border guard service are in close cooperation with the territorial bodies of the National Police and the National Guard; they have enough forces and means to provide a proper security of the state border, control over the observance of the rules of the border regime and regime at the checkpoints during the restriction for the entrance of foreigners to Ukraine,” the message said.
