Law enforcers to work in enhanced mode on Day of Defender of Ukraine

On the Day of Defender of Ukraine, which is annually celebrated on October 14, law enforcement officers will work in the enhanced mode. This was announced by the head of the National Police Igor Klymenko during an instructive meeting chaired by First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Serhiy Yarovyi, the police communications department reports.

All policemen will be clearly instructed on measures to ensure order, because the safety of citizens is a priority in our work. This is a holiday for our state, it should be held without provocation,” Klymenko said.

For his part, the head of the Kyiv police Andriy Kryshchenko noted that law enforcement officers received applications for holding five rallies.

“We also provided additional reserves in order to influence the situation if necessary. The center will work around the clock to monitor all events and give prompt response,” Kryshchenko stated.

According to Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Yarovyi, the main task of the police that day is to assist citizens in holding rallies, and in case of any conflicts - to quickly respond and suppress them.

On October 14, Ukraine marks the Defender of Ukraine Day. This is a day of honouring the courage and heroism of defenders of the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. Since 2015, this day is a day off. In addition, the holiday coincides with the Day of the Ukrainian Cossacks and the Protection of the Holy Virgin.
