Law enforcers detained the reconnaissance commander of the illegal armed group OPLOT, who wounded a local police officer on the night of January 24-25 in the Desnyansky district of Kyiv near one of the recreation facilities. The Department of Internal Security of the National Police reports.
Information about the shooting came to law enforcement officers at night. Already on the spot, it was found that a 25-year-old local police officer of the Desnyansky police department received a gunshot wound.
“It was established that on the night of January 24 to 25, local police officers wore civilian clothes and had no weapons. An unknown man approached them and began to provoke a conflict, swearing obscenely, and then suggested continue to sort things out on the street. The video from the surveillance camera shows a man who, waiting for his opponents, loaded his weapons," the report said.
According to law enforcement officers, the attacker continued the abuse, and then took a gun from his pocket, pointed it at one of the police officers and fired.
“However, a misfire occurred. Then the attacker shot the second policeman in the chest. At the moment when the district officer bent over the wounded colleague, the shooter put a gun to his head and pulled the trigger again. But this time the weapon also failed. The attacker left the scene," reads the message.
The identity of the shooter was quickly established - he turned out to be a 36-year-old previously repeatedly convicted of serious crimes, a native of Donetsk region. According to information on the Myrotvorets website, the man served in the illegal armed groups of the so-called “DPR”, is the intelligence commander of the OPLOT unit, and participated in battles near Debaltseve and Ilovaisk.
The attacker was detained on one of the streets of the capital. Suspicion was announced to him under part 4 of article 266 (hooliganism) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The wounded police officer was operated on, he is under the supervision of doctors. His condition is satisfactory.
