The military ranks of ordinary, sergeant and foremen (ordinary, senior soldier, junior sergeant, sergeant, senior sergeant, foreman, ensign, senior ensign) change the law to: recruit, soldier, senior soldier, junior sergeant, sergeant, senior sergeant, first sergeant, staff sergeant, master sergeant, senior master sergeant, chief master sergeant. Ship ranks are also changing: there will be no more midshipmen, but there will be a head foreman, master foreman, senior foreman and chief foreman.
The law enhances the role of sergeant and foreman in the training and education of subordinate personnel and in the performance of their intended tasks. In addition, the law changes the name "regiment" to "brigade", and, accordingly, the commander of the regiment will be the commander of the brigade. In peacetime and wartime, the chief sergeant of the brigade is responsible for providing the commander of the brigade with information and suggestions regarding military service.
According to the law, when addressing the Minister of Defense of Ukraine and his deputies, who are civilians, a soldier calls their posts, adding the word "pan (pani)" before the name of the post.
The title "master sergeant" is introduced to replace the title "senior ensign". It will be received by those who hold the posts of chief foremen of military units - in a separate battalion, regiment and brigade. Senior master sergeants will be in operational command, air command, command of the marine corps, as well as in other bodies of military command. That is, the title is higher than the level of the brigade, so that there is motivation to go to a higher position. Above them is the species command. These will already be the main master sergeants.
As we reported, president of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed the law that imposes the new military ranks in the Ukrainian Army. The changes concern junior ranks in the Ground Forces and the Navy.
