A big roadway accident occurred on Kyiv-Kharkiv highway in the small hours of September 11. Two vans, a micro van and a light duty vehicle crashed, killing five and wounding 20 people. Press office of the police of Kyiv region reported that on Friday.
According to preliminary data, the driver of DAF FT95 allowed three collisions - with Mercedes-Benz 1320, Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and VAZ. The two latter collisions took place on the oncoming traffic lane.
Medics, rescue team workers and investigation team of the police are working on the site.
"We're asking participants of the road traffic to consider the provided information (about the road accident). If possible, refrain from driving on the specified route", the authority said.
1,096,234 road accidents with affected people took place in Ukraine since 1991, when the country gained independence. Totally, 1,274,579 people were injured and 175,216 died as 112 Ukraine TV channel reported citing Deputy Interior Minister Anton Herashchenko. According to him, the number of those who deceased in road accidents in 2019 alone totaled up to 3,454 people.
