The air quality control group will be created at Kyiv's Energia incineration plant. Petro Panteleev, the Deputy Head of Kyiv City State Administration said that on Thursday.
"The air quality control will be functioning in the 24/7 mode, and the plant will also get a video surveillance system at a trash bunker. Operative decisions can only be made if there's objective information", he said.
The plant will also have a new sorting and recycling mechanism; this will let part of the trash be recycled, instead of being burned.
Panteleev added that several districts of Kyiv suffer from the foggy atmosphere. The major issue is pollution with contaminants produced by cars, which is why the most serious contamination of the atmosphere is observed near large roadways across Kyiv.
