Kyiv police are going to increase the security mode on May 9, as there is an event planned for this day in the Park of Eternal Glory. Andriy Kryshchenko, the chief of the Main Police Department of Kyiv said so as quoted by the Interior Ministry's Telegram channel.
"An event is scheduled in the Park of Eternal Glory. This is why the situiation centre started working with Kyiv police, inolving not only police agents, but also representatives of other respective services and agencies", reads the message.
The workers of this centre will be monitoring the situation in the online mode to be able to make immediate decisions in case of any complications or any unpredicted situations.
"Before the event, demolition experts and K-9 specialists will carefuly check the area where the event is to take place. Besides, the workers will be performing quick examination of visitors. So we're asking to take these preventive measures with understanding, since all this is necessary to provide security", Kryshchenko said.
In case of necessity, the police will explain citizens there is still quarantine regime working in Kyiv, and all kinds of symbols of totalitarian regimes are banned during public events.
Previously, mayor Vitaliy Klitschko claimed there would be no events timed to Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation and Victory Day, as there's still Covid-19 lockdown active in the city.
