Kyiv police have opened a criminal proceeding into the use of Nazi symbols during a march in honor of the SS-Volunteer Division "Galicia". The participants face up to five years in prison, Deutsche Welle reports.
"Kyiv police have launched criminal proceedings under part one of Article 436-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This article provides punishment for the production, dissemination of communist, Nazi symbols, and propaganda of communist and National Socialist (Nazi) totalitarian regimes… A pre-trial investigation is underway, "said Yulia Girdvilis, Acting Deputy Head of the Communications Department at Kyiv Police.
As a reminder, on April 28, about 250 people marched in black embroidered shirts (vyshyvankas) on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of Waffen-SS Division "Galicia" and came on the Independence Square in Kyiv.
Ambassador of Germany in Ukraine Anka Feldhusen has condemned the March dedicated to Waffen-SS Division Galicia that took place in Kyiv.
