Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra is quarantined due to an outbreak of COVID-19: more than 90 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus. The relevant statement was made by Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko during an online briefing.
"Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra is under quarantine according to the decision of the capital's emergency committee! And I appeal to law enforcement agencies to monitor its compliance with this decision," Klitschko said.
Overall, there are already more than 90 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the Lavra: 63 of them have been diagnosed over the last 24 hours.
"Today, the city will send mobile X-rays and a team of doctors to Kyiv-Perchersk Lavra in order to collect samples for PCR testing. We need to have a real picture of the disease cluster," Kyiv mayor added.
As we reported earlier, Pope Francis called for global solidarity against the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic and the fight against its consequences.
He also warned the European Union that it risked collapse if it did not agree on how to help the region recover.
