The World Bank is interested in the further cooperation with Kyiv, Ukraine and implementation of the development of the transport infrastructure, logistics of the city transport work, technologies for energy saving. It was the issues of the meeting of Vitaly Klitschko, the Mayor of Kyiv and Vice President of the World Bank Cyril Muller as the press service of Kyiv Mayor reported.
'We already have some jointly implemented projects and count for the further cooperation. We need to renew and develop the transport infrastructure of the capital, implement new projects in the public transport sphere and projects of the state-private partnership', Klitschko noted.
Cyril Muller noted that the World Bank has the positive experience of the cooperation with Kyiv and is set for the further implementation of the investment programs. Today the bank's experts prepare the recommendations for the work of the logistics of the city transport, particularly, bus movement. In three months, they will present the groundwork in Kyiv. Also, the World Bank is interested in the successful implementation of the project of the state-private partnership on the construction of the modern hospital in Kyiv. Its implementation was started by Kyiv with the help of the International Finance Corporation (IFC).
The meetings of Klitschko with the American politicians – Jorgan Andrews, the Director of the Office of Eastern European Affairs of the U.S. Department of State, U.S. Congressmen David Price and Peter Roskam and experts of the German Marshall Fund of the United States took place in Washington.
'At all meetings, we talked about the processes that take place in Ukraine. We talked about the things we should concentrate on to reach the progress in the reforms. I insisted that we need the support in the future. Ukraine would be in the difficult situation without the support of all those countries, which want to see it as democratic, developed and European country. Also, we discussed the fight against corruption as it is the biggest challenge for Ukraine and hinders the further reforms and developments. I hope the Verkhovna Rada will adopt the law on the Anti-corruption court. All partners that support and help Ukraine expect this', Klitschko noted.
'We understand: we need to unite the efforts of as many countries as it is possible to make the sanctions' effect stronger', he said.
Also, Klitschko intends to meet Congressman Lindsey Graham and the leaders of the International Republican Institute (IRI).
Moreover, he will visit Canastota village where he will participate in the solemn ceremony of the introduction to the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
Vitaly Klitschko, the Kyiv Mayor and former heavyweight champion in boxing at WBO, WBC and The Ring versions. He is the 'eternal' WBC Champion. Klitschko became the first Ukrainian to be introduced to the International Boxing Hall of Fame in the category 'Modern Boxers'.
