Curfew might be introduced in Kyiv only by the decision of the Verkhovna Rada; the extension of lockdown in the capital is possible under a number of conditions as Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko reported.
“The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine might introduce curfew by its decision. It is not the power of city authorities, first of all. Secondly, there are many speculations toward the curfew and extension of lockdown. We will base only on nu figures that we receive. Today, almost 3,000 patients; 48 people died. The figures are not optimistic. We hope that the next week they will decrease. If figures grow, we can talk about the extension of lockdown. We do not exclude stricter restrictions,” he said.
According to Klitschko, it is unknown yet whether or not the lockdown will be extended until May 10.
“I do not want to speculate on this topic. We cannot tell it. We have introduced lockdown on Monday and I hope that in a week we will have positive dynamics on incidence’s decline,” he added.
Earlier, Kyiv Mayor stated that the curfew might be introduced in Kyiv as anti-epidemic measures of the epidemic situation do not improve. However, the decision of the country’s leadership is needed to introduce curfew.
