Kyiv’s Svyatoshyn district court continues to look into the case of five former fighters of Berkut, the Ukrainian riot police unit disbanded in 2014.

The prosecutors ask the court to extend the detention period for Oleksandr Marynchenko, Serhiy Tamtura, Oleg Yanishevsky, Pavlo Abroskin and Serhiy Zinchenko; their actual detention period ends on August 18.

The five ex-Berkut servicemen are charged with killing 48 unarmed supporters of the Revolution of Dignity in Kyiv in early 2014, and wounding another 80 protesters.
