Members of the gang, which law enforcement officers planned to catch in Kniazhychi, previously committed robbery, disguised in the uniform of the Security Service. The Acting Head of the National Police Vadym Troyan said this at a meeting of the profile committee of the Verkhovna Rada, which was broadcast by 112 Ukraine TV Channel.

"On September 20, 2016 in the Shevchenko district (Kyiv) a robbery attack on a merchant has been committed. He exchanged currency, drove to his office and a group of 4 people, dressed in the SBU uniform, with AK-47, committed robbery. Then they took 2.4 million hryvnias and 20 thousand dollars. The criminal case was initiated. During the operational activities one member of the group was identified. When we searched for his allies, 7 more people involved in this group have been found", Troyan said.

According to Acting Head of the National Police, information appeared after some time that this criminal group plans to commit robbery or a felony in Kniazhychi village, Kyiv region.

"The Prosecutor General will be able to explain more on what happened during the operation of preventing the crime", said Troyan.

He said that all eight members of the group are currently detained, three of them were taken into custody for two months.
