"Definitely over the last eight weeks we’ve seen dramatic increases in Covid-19 cases and hospitalizations in kids. It started right when we started school," Dr. Donna Tyungu, a pediatric infectious disease physician at OU Health in Oklahoma City said.
The increase is due to the highly contagious delta variant, relaxed restrictions and ineligibility for children under 12 to get vaccines.
Meanwhile, Ukraine's Healthcare Ministry could launch the vaccination against coronavirus for children aged over 12 years old. The authority will receive respective recommendations from a group of experts in immunoprophylaxis. Fedir Lapiy, the head of the national technical group for immunization reported that during an interview.
"...the group voted to recommend the Ministry make the vaccine against coronavirus available for everyone aged over 12. It concerns Pfizer vaccine. We also stress on the importance of vaccination of children against infectious diseases that are on the vaccination schedule already. Check your vaccination calendar and give one to your child to protect it against other infectious diseases - before going to get vaccinated yourself," Lapiy said.
