Elizaveta Stishova, a prizewinner at the 53rd Karlovy Vary International Film Festival gave a part of her money reward to the parents of Oleg Sentsov, Ukrainian film director.
Stishova won Gran Prix at East of the West Competition with her Suleiman Mountain (Kyrgyzstan, Russia), unconventional family-road-trip drama.
At the award ceremony, Stishova supported Russian film maker Kirill Serebrennikov and Ukrainian Oleg Sentsov from the stage, both currently imprisoned in Russia. She said that she shall transfer 15 thousand Euro of her prize to the parents of hew two colleagues.
As it was reported earlier, the project of Ukrainian documentary film ‘Panorama’ won the "Docs in Progress" contest in the frameworks of the 53rd Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
Besides, the world premiere of a Ukrainian movie Vulkan (volcano, - ed.) took place in Karlovy Vary at the 53rd International Film Festival. Roman Bondarchuk, the Director of the film, reminded the international society of Oleg Sentsov and other Ukrainian political prisoners in Russia. 'I want to turn attention to Oleg, my colleague, who has been starving in a Russian prison for 49 days now. We should remember him and another 60 political prisoners', he said.
