Italy plans to open its borders to foreign tourists from mid-May. Prime Minister Mario Draghi stated this after a meeting with Tourism Ministers of the G20 countries, Deutsche Welle reports.

"It's time to buy tickets and book a hotel for a holiday in Italy," said Draghi.

It is assumed that foreign visitors will receive a special "coronavirus passport" for travel within the country.

As it was reported earlier, the European Commission put forward a proposal to expand the list of countries whose citizens may visit the European Union for nonessential reasons as long as they have a good COVID-19 situation or if the individuals are vaccinated. Meanwhile, Montenegro intends to remove all restrictions for Ukrainian travelers with the opening of the tourist season.
