Israeli Shas Political Party has appealed with the official letter to President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky with the request to admit the mass pilgrimage to Rabbi Nachman grave in the town of Uman in September as newsru.co.il reported.
“Lawmaker from Shas Political Party Moshe Arbel appealed with an official letter to President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. In the letter, Arbel asked Zelensky to admit the mass pilgrimage to Rabbi Nachman grave in Uman in September even if the Israeli government will insist on the opposite,” the message said.
This year, Rosh Hashanah will take place on September 7-8. Its celebration in Uman is tied with the fact that Rabbi Nachman is buried there. His grave is one of the most worshiped relics and places of pilgrimage of Hasidim.
In 2020, Rosh Hashanah was celebrated on September 18-20. Since September 14, about 1,000 Hasidim pilgrims tried to enter Ukraine, despite the restrictions for entry of foreigners.
On September 18, the Hasidim pilgrims, who were not allowed to enter Ukraine celebrate Rosh Hashanah in Belarusian cities Pinsk and Gomel.
