The government of Israel plans to impose an emergency state due to the increase of Covid-19 incidence. This possible step was discussed during the preliminary meeting of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with a few ministers before the meeting on coronavirus, as Israelinfo reported.
The decision might be introduced by the amendment of the law on the coronavirus or declaration of the Minister for Public Security.
Within the emergency, the government might introduce new restrictions and do not pass these decisions as to the legislative acts through the Knesset.
According to Netanyahu, the emergency state might be imposed due to the sharp increase in incidence.
“I will ask to make a decision about the broad full blockade and urgent strengthening of the restrictive measures and about the closure of a few branches of the economy,” he said.
According to one of the ministers, the imposing of the complete blockade is supported by the whole government excluding Minister of the Interior Aryeh Deri. He stands against such restrictive measures.
Moreover, Head of the Center on Fight against Coronavirus Ronni Gamzo offered to reduce the activity of the private sector by 50% and put the public sector in the work in the emergency state. Besides, he offers to close synagogues, markets and ban the holding of the protests.
Soon, the decision might be put for voting at the plenary meeting of Knesset.
As we reported, Israeli media reported the daily anti-record in terms of new cases of Covid-19 on September 23. Since the epidemic reached Israel, 200,000 people have been diagnosed with Covid-19, which ranked the country 24th in the world in terms of the overall number of the sick.
