Israel extends third lockdown until Friday, increases fines for quarantine violation

The Cabinet of Israel made a decision to extend the third all-national lockdown until 7:00 a.m., Friday, as Haaretz reported.

Ben-Gurion International Airport will be closed for another week; while land borders of Israel will be closed until midnight on Tuesday.

The current all-national isolation had to expire on the midnight of Sunday.

Moreover, Knesset adopted the law that increases the fines twice for people who violate the quarantine rules introduced due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to the Times of Israel, the violators of quarantine face a fine in the sum of 10,000 shekels (about $3,000).

The government will gather on Wednesday to discuss the plan of emerging from the quarantine.

PM Benjamin Netanyahu reported that in a week, Israel will get about a million vaccine doses. He urged people at the age of 50 and over to get the vaccination and he urged the society to stick to the recommendation for protection from Covid-19.

As we reported, France banned travel to and from non-EU countries as part of new measures to avoid a third lockdown. Since Sunday all but essential travel from outside of the EU will be banned. Testing requirements from inside the EU will also be tightened.
