The leaders of terrorist group ISIS from Syria maintained contact with jihadists who tried to organize terrorist attacks in the UK in 2016. This was reported by The Guardian newspaper  according to the source in law enforcement agencies in Britain.

According to the source, the threat of terrorist attacks in 2017 is still considered highly probable.

"We expect that in 2017 the situation will not get better," - said the source.

In total since 2014, 11 terrorist attacks have been averted in the UK. In 2016, law enforcement officers disrupted four terrorist attacks, that could lead to mass casualties.

The organizers of the failed attacks have been arrested. The investigators concluded that their actions in some cases were the result of Islamic propaganda, while in other attacks they noticed the direct participation on the ISIS leaders.
