Iran has confirmed 15 new cases of the coronavirus, taking the total to 43 with a death toll of eight. It is reported by Reuters.

It is noted that currently, Iran ranks second country in the world in the number of deaths from Covid-19, while the first is the epicenter of the disease - China.

For his part, Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei accused foreign media of trying to use the coronavirus theme to sabotage the parliamentary elections took olace earlier this week. Their official results are expected to be released on February 23.

It was reported that on February 19, two people died from a new type of coronavirus in Iran.

Lebanese authorities reported the first case of coronavirus infection in their country. A 45-year-old woman, who came from Iran, was diagnosed with this desease. This happened on February 21. An infected citizen was quarantined in a Beirut hospital.

Another two  citizens are suspected of being infected, they are now being examined.

The authorities took all necessary precautions in accordance with the recommendations of the World Health Organization.

In total, 2,364 people died from coronavirus in the world, and 78,583 people fell ill.
