Iran could have many more Covid-19 deaths than the government claims, as BBC reports.
"According to an investigation by the Persian Air Force, the number of deaths from coronavirus in Iran is almost three times higher than the Iranian government claims," it said.
Nearly 20,000 people have died with symptoms of the coronavirus before July 20, according to leaked government records, while the health ministry reports 14,405 deaths. The number of infected is also almost double the official figures: 451,024 versus 278,827.
Official figures continue to make Iran the worst hit in the Middle East.
In addition, according to medical data received by the Air Force, the first death from coronavirus in Iran was recorded on January 22. This happened almost a month before the country's first official case of coronavirus was reported.
According to worldometers, 312,035 people fell ill with Covid-19 in Iran, of which 17,405 were fatal.
As we reported earlier, as for today, less than 10% of the world population got through the coronavirus.
“The majority of the studies show that less than 10% of people are seropositive; in other words, were infected. The medics are most vulnerable to the infection; that is why the rates are higher in this category,” Kerkhove said.
