Interpol to help Ukraine in tracing of 52 pictures

The International Police put 52 pictures from Museum Fund of Ukraine on the international wanted list. These pictures were illegally transferred to Simferopol Museum of Art in 2014. The press service of the General Prosecutor’s Office reported this.

The pictures are also put on the state wanted list.

The issue goes about the pictures of the painters of 18 and 19 century and contains such showpieces of the universal importance as Moonlight night of Ivan Aivazovsky, Road in Forest of Ivan Shishkin, Bog of Issac Levitan and other.

‘At the moment the prosecutors of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the investigators of the National Police in Crimea established the photos of the museum items the approximate valuation of which is 1 billion 324 00 of dollars as at March 20, 2014’, the message said.

The ‘Russian and Ukrainian art of 18 and the beginning of 20 centuries’ should take place from February 18, 2014, until May 27, 2015, in Mariupol. The mentioned pictures were in the list of the exhibit items. The agreement on the exhibition organization was revoked beforehand and the pictures were brought back to Crimea annexed by Russia.
