In Kazakhstan, the Internet was turned off amid mass protests and riots, Globalcheck reports in Telegram.

According to the service, the Internet provider Kazakhtelecom has turned off the Internet throughout the country.

It is also not possible to access the media sites of Kazakhstan. Currently, the Internet in the country has fallen to zero.

At the same time, Sputnik Kazakhstan reported that the premises of TV channels in Almaty were destroyed by protesters.

In addition, the Kazakh TV channel CTC stopped broadcasting.

"We have received a signal from the guards that the building will be cut off from electricity, so we need to evacuate, otherwise we will not be able to leave. After everyone left the building, the TV center was cut off and the TV channel's broadcasting was interrupted," the TV channel employee said.

As it was reported, in the beginning of 2022 protests erupted in Kazakhstan after the increase in the price of liquefied gas. Demonstrators announced an indefinite action. Demands to reduce the price of gas have grown into calls for the resignation of the president and government. The Internet has been shut down in the country, law enforcement agencies seized military equipment, make arrests.

After a couple days of antigovernment protests the Cabinet of Kazakhstan has filed a resignation letter, and President Kasym-Jomart Tokayev accepted it.

However, despite the resignation of the government, on January 5, protests in Kazakhstan intensified. In the city of Almaty, during the riots, protesters stormed the administration building (akimat). Chaos reigns in the streets of Almaty. Dozens of cars were burned and shops smashed during the demonstrations in the city.
