Today, on August 3, Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov awarded law enforcement officers involved in the elimination of a man who took a policeman hostage in Poltava region. This is stated on the website of the Interior Ministry.

"You have done a great job, thank you for your professionalism, for working so precisely and bravely. I want to honor you with personal prize weapons," said Arsen Avakov.

The head of the National Police, Ihor Klymenko, presented all police officers with the "Badge of Honor" departmental award. Deputy Interior Minister Anton Herashchenko noted that such a situation was not typical for Ukraine.

As we reported earlier, on July 23, Roman Skrypnyk, former ex-convict, took a law enforcement officer hostage in Poltava, threatening to use a hand grenade.

On August 1, police special forces eliminated Skrypnyk after finding him in unhabituated houses on the outskirts of the village of Opishnya, Zinkivsky district: officer of the KORD police special forces eliminated the terrorist with an accurate shot.
