In Kharkiv region, the checks are held to expose illicit homes for elder people and other social facilities after the fire at the nursing home that took place on January 21 as Kharkiv Regional State Administration reported.
It is noted that today, on January 22, an extraordinary meeting of the regional commission for technogenic and environmental safety took place under the guidance of chair of Kharkiv regional state administration Anna Tymchuk.
Head of the regional state administration noted the necessity to assume comprehensive measures to expose non-governmental organizations that provide the services on maintenance, medical service of old people and disabled persons without proper permission documents and prosecute people involved in the illicit activity.
In his turn, Head of the National Police in Kharkiv region Andriy Rubel reported that law enforcers work in this sphere. Currently, the police officers check 118 objects.
“We check such objects in Kharkiv and Kharkiv region; totally, there are 118 of them, including 11 care homes, 30 hostels and 20 homes for elderly people,” Rubel noted.
Besides, it was decided to hold joint inspections of all social facilities in the region to check the legality of their work, observation of fire safety rules, sanitation and workplace safety rules.
The two-story building was caught on fire in Kharkiv on January 21. It was reequipped for the nursing home. It resulted in the death of 15 people.
The investigators of the State Investigation Bureau of Ukraine opened the criminal case due to the neglect of duty by the Emergency Service employees that led to the fire at the care home.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky ordered the Cabinet of Ministers to urgently create the commission to establish the reasons for a fire at the home for elderly people. Meanwhile, the Prosecutor General’s Office reported that preliminary, the fire took place due to the careless exploitation of electric heating elements.
Due to the tragedy in Kharkiv, Friday, January 22 is declared a morning day.
