The number of countries and territories where doctors detected the Indian strain of coronavirus reached 53. This is mentioned in the daily report of the WHO

The Organization's unofficial sources claim that B.1.617 was also recorded in seven more territories, which potentially increases the overall number of countries to 60.

Brazil, Algeria, Ghana and Curacao were among the countries where they observed cases of infection with Indian strain of coronavirus.

So far, four mutations have been defined as "causing concerns" - the British (B. 1.1.7), South African (B.1.351), Brazilian (P.1) and Indian (B.1.617).

The Indian strain of coronavirus, the one with double mutation was first observed in March 2021. In April, the situation in India turned into a catastrophe, with the world record of newly infected observed daily, over one week. More than 40 countries, including Ukraine, took the commitment to help India with its basic medical needs.
