Such situation has been observed since July 31. The reason is that current meteorological conditions - the heat in the daytime, the anticyclon and the trapping layers of the air in the night time - are suitable for the increase of level of nitrogen and formaline.
Such weather conditions are expected to hold until August 3.
According to the local environmental experts, the level of contamination of the atmosphere with the nitrogen dioxide reached that of 5-6 MPCs in several areas across the city.
Earlier, the local residents of Drohobych, Lviv region, came to the gathering due to the garbage collapse. The residents of Bronytsia village blocked the Drohobych landfill demanding to close it, and they do not allow the equipment to enter it. As a result, there is one more problem as the garbage is now transported to other regions and the locals should pay more for the public service.
According to the locals, the prices increased almost thrice from $0.34 to $0.93.
The local authorities said that the landfill was blocked illegally and it was recognized by two court decision. Particularly, the landfill has all permissive acts and passport for its functioning. However, it is still blocked.
