The inclusion of Ivano-Frankivsk in the ‘red’ quarantine zone is a subjective and unjustified political decision of the country's government. Mayor Ruslan Martsinkiv wrote about this on his Facebook page.
"Doctors in our hospitals say that patient statistics are fluctuating. It looks like the government's decision is subjective and unreasonable," he said.
As you know, the state commission for fuel and energy and emergency situations classified Ivano-Frankivsk to the ‘red’ zone from 31 August.
"Our hospitals accept patients from all over the region and at the same time cope. The occupancy of beds for patients with confirmed coronavirus is at the level of 32-34%," the mayor said.
Ruslan Martsinkiv stated that the "red" zone for Ivano-Frankivsk is a political decision.
“I don’t know what this will lead to, but the assessment criteria on the part of the state must be objective. Therefore, I appeal to the president, prime minister, and government with a demand to reconsider my decision and take into account the real incidence rates in Ivano-Frankivsk,” the official said.
He noted that the powers of the city commission on fuel and energy and emergency situations are very limited in comparison with the state one, so the city authorities are forced to comply with all decisions.
"In two days we will determine and inform all the details. We plan that from August 31, transport will move in the mode of special flights, but along the usual routes. Of course, educational institutions, according to the law, will also not be able to open," the mayor of Ivano-Frankivsk summed up.
