For Christmas in Kyiv security and order near the temples will be provided by 1,200 policemen and 100 military men of the National Guard. This was reported in the press service of the Kyiv police on Facebook.
"On January 6 and 7, 2018, religious services will be held in 120 religious buildings in Kyiv. In order to prevent any violations of the rule of law and other dangerous situations, law enforcers will work in an enhanced regime," the report said.
Earlier, the police reported that around 18,000 police officers from National Guard will work in Ukraine to ensure order near the churches.
According to preliminary data, almost 5 million citizens will take part in the festive religious services on the occasion of Christmas.
The most popular events will be held in Lviv, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions. Previously, police examined famous temples for the presence of explosive objects.
