In January-August, Ukraine spent USD 1.11 bn to combat Covid-19 epidemic

Over eight months of 2021, Ukraine spent more than one billion dollars on combating the consequences of Covid-19 pandemic. Press office of Ukraine's Finance Ministry reported this on Thursday. 

Most of the funds covered the procurement of vaccines, provision of urgent medical care and hospitalization of patients with coronavirus. Specifically, the government spent 380 million U.S. dollars to purchase 38 million doses of vaccine. Almost 650 million dollars went to servicing of Covid patients, both hospitalized and non-hospitalized.

The rest of the money was spent on oxygen supplies for hospitals, social payments for doctors and financial support for institutions of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine and other important things.

In 2021, the government allocated 1.33 billion dollars for the needs of combating coronavirus in Ukraine.
