In the international waters of the Black Sea, 40 km away from the annexed Crimea shore a cargo vessel Anda flying the flag of Togo got shipwrecked, as Russian media TASS reports, linking to Russia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations.
“According to the preliminary data, three people were saved, the fate of other six is being clarified,” the ministry informs.
Later on, as Interfax reported, five more crew members were picked up by vessel Minoan Grace, heading for Turkey. Now the question is being settled on where to send them: to Turkey or to Crimea.
According to the ministry, the cargo vessel transported 24 tons of wheat. It capsized 40 km to the South of Alupka. Three ships are engaged in the searching operations.
The weather conditions didn’t allow for engaging either rescue vessels or aviation. The wind in the area is 20 meters per second now; the waves are three meters high.
“There’s information that the vessel went into the open sea from Kerch, despite the gale warning, and due to the unfavourable weather conditions started to shipwreck,” the ministry notes.
