Next year, the Ukrainian military plans to train 7,730 sergeants, which would be 2,000 more than this year's number. ArmiyaInform reported that with the reference to the General Staff of Ukraine's Armed Forces.
"457 of the 7,730 sergeants who will be trained next year will begin instructors. This year, more than 5,800 servicemen became professional sergeants", the message says.
The Ukrainian army currently employs a network of training centers and colleges for the sergeants; by the nature of structure, functions and tasks, they are similar to those in the NATO member countries.
The sergeant training program in Ukraine foresees several levels of training based on these used by NATO armies. The programs are divided into basic, middle, advanced and high levels. Every such level is divided into two phases, where the candidate is trained as a commander and a team leader, and the professional training according to the service branch and their military specialty.
Ukrainian sergeants are constantly trained at foreign military academies and training centers in Germany, Switzerland, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland and the USA.
