Over the course of 2017, Ukraine's population decreased by 198 thousand people. The State Statistics Service reported this on Wednesday.

'As of January 1, 2018, the population size amounts to 42.3 million people,' the message says.

According to the UN forecast, by 2050, Eastern Europe's population size will vastly decrease; specifically, that of Ukraine will shrink from 44.2 to 36.4 million people
